Guide either Franz or Marie through one of the most stressful moments of their life- suddenly waking up as a half-human, half-bug abomination. Alongside your sibling, explore the house for something useful to get yourself out of this predicament.

  • Very loosely inspired by Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis?
  • Almost 4,000 words...
  • Two different scenarios to pick from!

  • A total of 7 different endings!
  • An exploration section?
  • Classical music inspired original soundtrack! Kinda! Maybe?

great game!! Loved how much there was to do in it and the designs. My favorite part was the news segment in the living room. PEAK!! <3

this was really good! i loved the amount of options and the bug designs!
an inspirational (almost) one man project, i also liked the subtle worldbuilding that makes you interested in learning more about the setting

Welp, here it is, my fanart for this game. Might have some mistakes, but I hope you enjoy! Might do more later if I have time. (As for the second one, well it's a nonsensical thumbnail update I guess. I also only found out you have a tumblr, after posting this.. welp.....)

imagine you get an infestation irl while playing this

pest control technicians hate this one trick!

(cough cough i'm totally not responsible if the amount of bugs in your house suddenly increases)

She'd be marienating houses with bugs, so arson goes legal.

take my upvote out of anger D:<

I really enjoyed this! I love the colour scheme a lot, it's very simple and fun. The sprites' animation highlights are so cute... The expressions are lovely, and art style overall is very cute as well! Thank you for making this!

太棒了简直。。尝试了全结局 男女主很萌的cg图也很好看!

Hymeji sent me to this realm so that i could try out the game and it's excellent, even for a jammin' jars game!

the visuals and artstyles were amazing as always, the storyline doesn't feel like it's rushed! (which is good btw you don't wanna have a deadline ruin the most important aspect)

the music is the best part, as it adds more character to siblings and their situation!
as Franz's singlemindedness hasn't been tensing up despite multiple reminders that he's infected and still decides to treat it like it's a normal day

Marie on the other hand is sssuuupppeeerrr intense that it actually made me felt hurry while searching areas for the first time! (which makes up the fact that Marie wasn't joking around while searching)

The characters are perfect for an average sibling's interaction... (i wonder why Franz is so good at convincing people that he can fool the entire school into thinking that it's normal and nearly fooled his sister to her demise)

i really have no idea why do i spend 4 hours writing this i have never been this website before and i tried to S-rank this message aaaa

this was a fun play !  me and my brother had a few good laughs at the dialogue. i also appreciate the cute art, quality of life in the differences between choices you have and haven't previously clicked... i named the cat "meowmeow." so true marie. my current working theory is the 8th continent is the Bug Continent and the bug parasite came in the mail. :) good game. i would also be displeased about a centipede hanging on my living room wall.

It's actually a little darker than I thought it would be haha, but this was really enjoyable. I love the artwork and the general vibe,  it's a really polished and charming little VN.

Also, I love the interactions between Franz and Marie. There's some fun quirky humour "maybe you tripped over your tail!", "wait, since when did I have a tail???" and I appreciated the "would you love me if I was a worm" mention lol

They're both very cute characters, thank you for sharing them!

Thank you very much for playing! I'm very happy that someone likes my weird sense of humor.

(I also have a commentary one. I also have some the theories in the description (both versions), but It might not be good, and I have a feeling you might not buy it.)

I enjoyed this one! It's pretty great! Graphics are stylistic, and in theme with music as well. I love the characters and as well their designs, whether be bug/human. Lore/Worldbuilding is very interesting, hopefully to see more. I like some usage of references, and they are funny.

Overall, you did pretty well for this one!

Thanks for playing! I'm glad to see that you enjoyed the dialogue as much as I enjoyed writing it :D
(that first empty was completely unintentional lol)

As for your theories and questions, here's some answers:
- there is in fact an actual CG displayed in the second fade to black during Marie's first ending, you'll have to turn up your screen brightness to see it :)
- Each scenario happens in a different timeline, selecting the scenario determines who gets infected... as for the actual time period this takes place in, I have no idea because I just wanted to put in an old TV for aesthetic purposes lol
- I can confirm you're correct on the first question, but I won't confirm anything on the other two, although I do think your theories are pretty interesting.

If you're wondering about progress on the update for Catching a Date, unfortunately it'll probably be done some time next year, partially because I burned out on drawing too many fish waifus and partially because (and don't quote me on this) the update should at least double the available content in the game in addition to the visual overhaul. I'm also planning to work on a different game while I work on the update to try and reduce the burnout, so that's another reason why it'll take longer.

As thanks for last time, I've attached a drawing. Hope you like it!

No problem! And I see. Well at least I'm right on one, and I guess you found my other two interesting. I'm more glad to hear that. And again, you did pretty well on the writing, and enticed me to understand the lore, and try to theorize. I also kind of knew even then there's like a cg there as well, just again, I'm unsure anyway if I'll do the brightness thing anyway. but yeah. Maybe just a bonus extension on the next game I'll play on the jam. (I might do a fanart follow-up, maybe on replies.) Still hoping see more of the two, but I'm thinking of it like unlikely and it's more like a one shot I guess.

As well for the other game, I see. Still take your time, and don't try to burn out yourself! And no worries, I will not quote that definitely, if the update came.

ALSO HOLY MOLY YOU DREW THEM PRETTY GREAT! Thank you so much! I will cherish this!
(Well I guess I'm going to go back to drawing for now atm.)

I'd suggest just grabbing it out of the game folder (it's in images under the name "cg turned_marie.png") and throwing it into any photo editor and turning up the brightness. If you want, I can also just upload the no background version of it in a reply since other people will probably also miss it. Depending on reception, maybe I'll do a sequel, but it'd be far off because I have a couple of things already lined up.
